What Teachers really need

I think teachers would like some time to actually teach. Somehow schools have become a repository of society 'fixeruppers'. You know what I mean; "kids are fat" - let the schools sort it out. "Kids are poor eaters" - schools can fix that. "kids are bullies" - schools will fix that. "Kids don't get enough exercise" - by jove, we'll fix that at school. Hello, are there any parents out there?
As we get an ever increasingly crowded curriculum we need to find tools to assist us. I am trying to answer some of the issues by offering help with ICT solutions, but frankly I doubt that teachers have time to check my blog.

Your blog
I do believe that as this is the first response to this entry since it was made that you now have so e degree of proof that there is little time to list or read much that is out there. I must agree with you to a certain extent. As educator we all want what is best for our students bit often issues that we are being asked to tackle are well outside our areas of expertise or competence. It seems however that we seem to bash on adding new causes or responsabilities to our instructional day. I have gotten to a point in assessing my participation in voluntary initatives where I pose the question, "does this forwadr the cause of education in my classroom?" If the answer is no then most often I try go avoid adding it to my plate. Of course as teachers we are often lured through our own innate curiosity and desire to try new things. Either way you slice it more and more is being added to our plates and we need to start developing skills to triage or priortize those that we involve ourselves with.
